In this article I read, a tours captain in Hawaii describes an experience with a monk seal underwater. I am reading this article to give examples of V.E.T. ; Vivid, Emotive, and Tangible.
An example of vivid would be:
“I’d just been stared down by one of the rarest marine creatures in the world.”
The description of being stared down by the rarest marine creature would be a great vivid picture for me.
An example of emotive would be:
“Powerfully built and several times my size, he must have sensed my fear.”
This describes the emotion the Tour guide had of fear.
An example of tangible would be:
“Hawaii’s spinner dolphins, smaller than the bottlenose variety, twirl in the air as they flip out of the water.”
This describes tangible because it can give a picture of dolphins twirling in the air, while describing that the ’spinner’ dolphins are smaller than ‘bottlenose’ dolphins if you can picture that.
